Does anyone out there has some experience with fines issued on the spot where they measure the time driving over between two cables across the street? I was on a scooter and they pulled me off after them and gave me a R200 fine. I did not have the toolkit yet at that stage and made no pictures. I was obviously in a rush and did not take notes really. I looked at the calibration stamp on the TROVATO machine and it was valid. At least on of the officers, I think it was actually both, did not have his cap on as it was a warm day. There are 60 km/h signs and a camera pictogram underneath. What can I do to squash it other than just ask for the normal reduction (often 50% without much questions asked. Court date is 31/05/10. Can I not just walk to Court and ask for full proof that I was too fast with all the certificates and other docs? Funny thing is that he was not bothered at all when looking at my driving license and when I pro-actively explained that I do not have a RSA motorbike license yet, but that I am in the process of getting it converted from my German one which is a nightmare on its own.
